The Dark Knight Rises cinematographer Wally Pfister struck a low blow toward Joss Whedon's The Avengers movie when he blatantly when out of his way - when not even asked - to state that the movie was "appalling."

The original interview in which Pfister made the statement has since been edited to remove the offending remark, but we have it up right here.

Now Entertainment Weekly has reached out to The Avengers director Joss Whedon.

Whedon's response?

"I'm sorry to hear it. I'm a fan."

Seems very Captain America-like to me.

The Avengers 2 assembles May 1, 2015 with Iron Man 3 on May 3, 2013, Thor: The Dark World on November 8, 2013, Captain America: Winter Soldier on April 4, 2014, and the Guardians of the Galaxy movie on August 1, 2014.
