Johnny Depp To Adapt 'The Vault' from Image Comics

picThe Vault hit local comic shops this week, and with that comes the news that the three issue mini will be adapted into a movie.

Johnny Depp will be on as producer, in addition to Graham King whose own GK Films picked up the rights.

The writer on The Vault, Sam Sarkar, is an executive for Depp's production company, Infinitum Nihil.

Christi Dembrowski from Infinitum Nihil and Tim Headington from GK Films will also produce.

I read The Vault earlier this week and thought it had potential. A group of divers discover a sarcophagus in a secret underwater cave that has something unpleasant residing inside. Just what that is - is left for next issue!

Here's the official description:

Vault #1 (of 3)
Diamond ID:JUN110501

A small team of treasure hunters struggles to excavate a dangerous and legendary treasure pit before a massive storm hits Sable Island, the 'Graveyard of the North Atlantic'. Equipped with all the latest technology, the scientists believe they are prepared against all of nature's fury, but nothing can prepare them for what they are about to unleash from The Vault.
