Jeph Loeb's Nova Is Peter Parker Says Axel Alonso; Richard Rider First For Ultimate Spider-Man?
From the horse's mouth...
"To me, the title character, Sam, is Peter Parker crossed with Luke Skywalker," Marvel EIC Axel Alonso told CBR.
And further down...
"Again: Peter Parker meets Luke Skywalker! [Laughs]," Alonso said.
And we get more from Jeph Loeb who tries to sell us that he came onboard after Marvel knew about DnA's run on Nova and Guardians of the Galaxy was closing.
It was sort of a combination of two things. Once they knew that Abnett and Lanning were wrapping things up for the character and there was a desire to continue with these characters – including Guardians of the Galaxy – it became a similar situation to what we often see at Marvel. When there's a project that becomes available, certain people get a chance to pitch. That's what happened to me. It was a couple years ago now, even before "Ultimate Spider-Man" or my involvement with "Ultimate Spider-Man." They knew Nova would be on the show, but that's all they knew. He'd just been picked as a cast member.
That's an interesting statement because it says Richard Rider Nova was picked for the TV show - as Loeb had no involvement (right?) - with Loeb pitching his Nova (Sam Alexander) after that.
Unless, the Marvel TV people had a "Sam Nova" already in the cards, and then of course, it would be the other way around with Marvel canceling DnA's stuff and pitching Loeb the new "Sam" Nova.
Anybody buying what he's trying to sell?
