We now get the May 2013 numbers for Jeph Loeb's Nova #4, and it's selling under 40,000.

Nova #4 is listed at selling 38,151 on the ICv2 sales charts.

Nova #4 comes in at #57 for the month of May, down 6 spots from April where it landed at #51.

This is also the first time that Loeb's Nova has sold under the 40K mark as April's third issue sold 40,548.

This also marks the second consecutive month that Loeb's Nova (dubbed "Nova In Name Only" - NINO - by the fans) has under performed compared to the previous run by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning.

DnA's Nova #4 sold 40,159 back in 2007 coming off the hit Marvel Comics event Annihilation.

As of the second issue's publication it was announced that both Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness were replaced by Zeb Wells and Paco Medina with July's #6.

This can't be looked at as anything but a major failure by Marvel who promoted the new Sam Alexander with two of their biggest creators, Loeb and McGuinness, in addition to the special Marvel Point One issue, the first ever Marvel Infinite comic book by superstar writer Mark Waid and artist Stuart Immonen, and the inclusion in Avengers Vs. X-Men, not to mention the Disney XD Ultimate Spider-Man animated show.

Marvel will attempt to give "NINO" a boost yet again with September's Infinity.
