James Gunn Says Jim Starlin Is A Hero & Foundation of Marvel Cosmic

Body

Yesterday saw Cosmic Book News report that Jim Starlin had attended the Guardians of the Galaxy Red Carpet premiere with the fan-favorite Marvel Cosmic writer stating the movie could be Marvel's best one yet.

Now director James Gunn has commented via Facebook about Starlin's remarks with the following:

This just about made me cry. Holy cow. Jim Starlin is a true hero and the real foundation of Marvel Cosmic. Wow.

Jim Starlin not only created Thanos, but Gamora and Drax as well - with all three appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Starlin is also responsible for bringing the Infinity Stones (known as Infinity Gems in the comics) together in Infinity Gauntlet, and Joss Whedon and Clark Gregg also count themselves as big fans of Starlin's work, primarily with the character of Adam Warlock.

Jim Starlin also has a new original graphic novel coming out by Marvel with Thanos: The Infinity Revelation which features members of the Guardians of the Galaxy and more.
