Independence Day 2 Gets A July 3, 2015 Release

6372 Fox Studios has announced the release date for Roland Emmerich's "Independence Day 2," and it's July 3, 2015.

The date is 19 years after the original, which blasted off Will Smith's acting career.

"ID Forever Part 1," as the sequel has been called, has been rumored to be set 20 years later with the aliens returning through a worm hole.

It's been said that Will Smith is not confirmed for the movie, but Bill Pullman will be a part of it, with "Independence Day 2" possibly focusing on Will Smith's character's stepson.

A third Independence Day movie is also said to be in the works with "ID Forever Part 2."

The original Independence Day opened July 3, 1996 raking in over $300 million with a budget of $75 million.
