Ice Warriors Return To Doctor Who

Body

The BBC has confirmed that the Ice Warriors will return to Doctor Who with episode 3 of the next part of Season 7, which returns on March 30th.

The Ice Warriors are a militaristic race from Mars that first appeared in 1967 and attempted to invade Earth; however, they eventually befriended the Doctor and helped against rogue Ice Warriors. In the 2010 "The Water of Mars" episode, the Doctor referenced them.

The episode is written by Mark Gatiss, who told the BBC, "I've always loved the iconic Ice Warriors and have been badgering to bring them back for ages. And now they're on a ssssssubmarine! With Russians! I'm a very happy anorak right now."

Gatiss has written and also appeared in episodes of Doctor Who, with writing credits including "The Unquiet Dead," "The Idiot's Lantern," "Victory of the Daleks," and "Night Terrors."
