Guardians of the Galaxy Spinoffs A Possibility: Animated Movie Cut Reveals Villain Scene
If you recall, it was reported back in 2012 by Cosmic Book News that Guardians of the Galaxy was said to be an animated movie.
Well, it turns out the report wasn't all that far off as it's learned that James Gunn used an animated cut of Guardians of the Galaxy to help with the visualizations.
In an interview with Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige with Business Week, mention of the animated cut of Guardians of the Galaxy becomes known, which also hints at a particular character and scene.
They’re watching a rough, animated version of the film on a big screen on the wall. It helps Gunn visualize certain critical scenes before he shoots them with actors.
And the character and scene (which also mentions floating in space possibly powered by gravity discs):
Gunn freezes a frame of an imposing-looking villain any serious comic book fan would recognize instantly. He sits on a rocket-powered throne. Feige sees something on the screen that he doesn’t like. The evildoer needs to be farther away in the frame so he looks more imperious, he says.
It's also learned that possible spinoff character movies for Guardians of the Galaxy could happen as Disney CEO Bob Siger mentions it. While Marvel Studios built up The Avengers with Iron Man, Thor and Captain America movies, this time they could introduce the lesser known Guardians and have possible films spinning off featuring Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon and Groot.
Iger would like to replicate the success of The Avengers with other Marvel teams. He says Marvel could potentially spin off members of the Guardians of the Galaxy, which include Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Groot, and Rocket Raccoon, in their own features.
"Guardians of the Galaxy" has an August 1, 2014 release starring Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana As Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon, Vin Disel as Groot, Lee Pace as Ronan, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Djimon Houndsou as Korath, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Benicio del Toro as The Collector, John C. Reilly as Rhomann Dey and Glenn Close as Nova Prime Rael.
