Well, it's official.

Guardians of the Galaxy has now passed the $200 million mark domestically, and in doing so, has passed by Sony's Amazing Spider-Man 2.

It's also passed Godzilla and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes as well as crushed the Green Lantern movie.

That's pretty good for a rag tag team that no one has heard about before (well, no one outside the comic book world -- and even then it was a small crowd).

Guardians of the Galaxy currently has about $222 million at the box office in the U.S., with a total haul of close to $419 million.

Sony's Amazing Spider-Man 2 had a total U.S. gross of close to $203 million.

Godzilla came in at $200.5 million, and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes had $201.8 million in the U.S.

The big two: Captain America 2 and X-Men: Days Of Future Past brought in $259.7 million and $232.4 million, respectively.

A sequel for Guardians of the Galaxy was greenlit at Comic-Con previous to the movie coming out.

In case you are wondering, the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie isn't doing that bad as it's been the #1 movie the past two weekends. It's already netted close to $118 million domestically, with a sequel greenlit as well.

Sony's plans for the Amazing Spider-Man franchise next include movies for the Sinister Six and Venom, with a female superhero movie also rumored. Amazing Spider-Man 3 will hit in 2018.
