Guardians of the Galaxy Movie To Feature Original Guardians? James Gunn Rereading Valentino's Run
Jim Valentino launched a new Guardians of the Galaxy comic back in 1992, based on the originals, that ran for five years. About half way through, Valentino was replaced by Mike Gallagher, reportedly due to editorial differences.
James Gunn posted on his Facebook that he was rereading the issues, but stated that he is not discussing anything in regards to the movie. Gunn also went on to make mention of Taserface, in that we won't be seen in the movie — perhaps insinuating we will see others.
Rereading old Guardians books, I came upon this villain from Guardians of the Galaxy #1 (1990 run). Although I'm not discussing anything having to do with the Guardians movie, I will say the odds of Taserface making an appearance are quite low.
A lot of fans have been wondering if any of the original Guardians of the Galaxy would appear, most notably with Vance Astro, a character who did appear in the 2008 Guardians of the Galaxy comic book by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning (DnA), which the movie seems to be borrowing from. However, DnA also featured additional original Guardians (albeit from an alternate future), including Starkhawk and Charlie-27, in an arc that included the Avengers villain Kang the Conqueror as well as Killraven, who lead the Guardians against the Martians. Valentino had plans for Killraven as well, before his departure.
