Guardians of the Galaxy Movie Director James Gunn To Attend MorrisonCon
Comic Book scribe Grant Morrison will be holding his own comic book convention, MorrisonCon, September 28 to the 30th in Las Vegas.
The eccentric writer plans on having a convention less like your usual run-of-the-mill comic book con and wishes it to be "something akin to a personal journey of discovery."
The cast includes heavyweights like The Walking Dead's Robert Kirkman, Marvel Comic writers Jonathan Hickman and Jason Aaron, superstar artists Jim Lee, Frank Quitely, J.H. Williams III and Chris Burnham.
Now Grant Morrison has added two more to the convention, one of which is James Gunn, who was named to be in talks to direct the Guardians of the Galaxy movie. The other is John Landis, director of the recent found-footage "super hero" movie, Chronicle.
While I haven't read anything official that states James Gunn has been named to direct the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, THR reports, "Gunn is a genre nut who directed the superhero-themed Super and was just chosen to helm Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy."
While I suppose that statement could be read as James Gunn just being chosen and not accepting - or just an assumption - it more or less seems to be a done deal.
Regardless, I'm sure we'll hear from James Gunn at the con about the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, if at least a "no comment."
Regarding the MorrisonCon being a "personal journey of discovery," Grant Morrison told THR the following:
"It’s not going to be 'Come here and buy some comics and listen to a few panels,' ” Morrison told Heat Vision. “After two days you will be a changed person.”
