Marvel Studios has done it again and has another hit on their hands with Guardians of the Galaxy.

The James Gunn-directed film brought in $94 million domestically this weekend giving it the best August opening ever.

The previous record was held by The Bourne Ultimatum, which had $69.3 million, but we see Guardians crushed that.

The Guardians of the Galaxy opening put it on par with Captain America 2, and to date has a total worldwide gross of $160 million.

The film is also getting rave reviews as Guardians currently sits at 92% positive rating amongst critics, with a 96% positive rating amongst fans at Rotten Tomatoes.

Word of mouth has been positive, and Guardians also has an "A" cinemscore with audiences.

Marvel recently announced a sequel is in the works.
