Green Lantern (2011) Movie: Geoffrey Rush is Tomar-Re

Looks like the Green Lantern news is kicking up things a notch.

We heard Michael Clarke Duncan may be voicing the part of Kilowog, now the LA Times Hero Complex informs us that Geoffrey Rush will be voicing Tomar-Re in the Green Lantern movie.

The Australian actor is known for his work in The King's Speech, where he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor. He already has an Oscar with Shine (1986) where he won Best Actor and can also be found in Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean movies as Barbarossa. Geoffrey Rush is no stranger to voice acting having voiced Ezylryb in the recent animated Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole.

Tomar-Re is a member of the Green Lantern Corps, a scientist before joining - and the first to meet Hal Jordan.

Below is a clip featuring Geoffrey Rush to give you an idea what Tomar-Re might sound like.

The Green Lantern movie opens in theaters June 17th, 2011 starring Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, Blake Lively as Carol Ferris, Peter Sarsgaard as Hector Hammond, Mark Strong as Sinestro and Temuera Morrison as Abin Sur.
