Good news for fans of Godzilla (and hopefully a potential sequel) as Fandango has reported tickets sales are selling better than Thor 2, World War Z and Pacific Rim.

“We are selling twice as many tickets as we sold in the same point of the sales cycle of Pacific Rim,” said Harry Medved of Fandango, reports Deadline.

It's said Godzilla already has $1.5 million in ticket sales as of 9 A.M. today.

Advance screenings start tonight in the U.S. around 7pm ET with Godzilla officially opening tonight at 12am.

Speculation has it that Godzilla could open to a $70 million weekend, which is almost twice that of Pacific Rim ($37.2 million last year).
