Following news that Godzilla 2 will film in China, now it's learned the sequel to the Gareth Edwards 2014 movie has a pair of writers attached.

Variety reports Godzilla 2 will be written by Michael Dougherty and Zach Shields who also wrote Krampus for Legendary.

It's also reported that Legendary might be setting up a writers room to create the upcoming Godzilla and King Kong shared universe, as Kong vs. Godzilla is also on the way for a 2020 release, and Kong: Skull Island comes out March 10, 2017.

Godzilla 2 has a March 22, 2019 release; no director or actors are attached as of yet.

Gareth Edwards Godzilla movie made over $520 million at the box office with a majority fo that coming from international audiences. I'm guessing the sequel may be a lot better as Edwards' Godzilla went through a lot of script rewrites and writers, which I felt showed through with the finished product on screen.
