In a surprise move, DC Comics has announced via MTV Geek that everyone's favorite Orange Lantern, Larfleeze, will be getting a new series as an addition to the Green Lantern line of comics.

The book will be spinning out of the backup series in Threshold and executed by the same team of Keith Giffen and Scott Kolins.

Giffen and Kolins seem to be having a wonderful time dealing with both the serious and more comical sides of Larfleeze as the Orange Lantern searches for his "stuff," stolen from his hideaway planet. This property includes his Orange Battery, even as his ring's charge is currently running out.

In other announcements, the following creative teams were named for the GL line: The flagship Green Lantern title will be written by Robert Venditti (X-O Manowar, Demon Knights) while Billy Tan (Uncanny X-Men) will take on art duties. Meanwhile, I, Vampire's Joshua Hale Fialkov steps into the major role writing both Green Lantern Corps for artist Bernard Chang and Red Lanterns for Alessandro Vitti. Scribe Justin Jordan (Deathstroke) and CBN fave artist Brad Walker (Guardians of the Galaxy, Hypernaturals) will be handling Green Lantern: New Guardians.

Green Lantern myth molder and DC CCO Geoff Johns announced recently he was leaving the main title after nine years to concentrate on his new Justice League of America title as well as flagship book Justice League and Aquaman.

Soon afterward, as predicted weeks ago by CBN E-I-C Matt McGloin, DC announced full creative team changes in all the Lantern titles. However, the addition of a Larfleeze book was a surprise.
