George Takei Calls Out Marvel; Taylor Swift Does A Better Job
Taylor Swift "Bad Blood"
Marvel is definitely feeling the heat for not having a female superhero movie.
Earlier saw Mark Ruffalo call out Marvel regarding the lack of Black Widow merchandise for his daughters.
Now George Takei is at it.
Takei called out Marvel regarding the new Taylor Swift music video for her latest song "Bad Blood," which is a sci-fi romp done in the style of Sin City featuring celebrities galore.
"Taylor Swift released her much anticipated video Bad Blood starring girl celebs as action stars," Takei tweeted. "Come on Marvel, T. Swift is showing you up."
The tweet was retweeted over 2200 times and favorited almost 2000 times.
Marvel has yet to make a superhero female movie, but plans are underway. While it won't star Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, it will feature Carol Danvers as Captain Marvel, though it's not due out for another three years. Marvel also recently introduced Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch for some added girl power in The Avengers: Age Of Ultron as well.
It's unknown why Marvel won't go with a solo Black Widow movie; Scarlett Johansson has already proven she can be a bigger draw than both Captain America and Thor. Johansson's Lucy netted more than both of the pair of Assemblers first solo films, and it wasn't even Marvel related. One would think Black Widow would be an even bigger draw if you add the Marvel fanbase to the Lucy numbers.
Marvel, you know you are in trouble when Taylor Swift is showing you up.
