Geoff Johns Is Leaving Green Lantern With #20 & The Return Of Hal Jordan
The news hit the Associated Press earlier that Geoff Johns will be leaving Green Lantern with issue #20.
No new writer has been announced on the series as of yet.
It's stated that Johns will be focusing on his two Justice League books as well as Aquaman.
Johns has been on Green Lantern for the past nine years starting with "Rebirth" back in 2004 and recently introduced Simon Baz to the book, which has resulted in mix reactions from fans.
Johns' last issue will be a whopping 64 pages accompanied by the art of Doug Mahnke, Ethan Van Sciver, Ivan Reis and Joe Prado, which will "see the return of Hal Jordan, the final fate of Sinestro, the revelation of the First Lantern and an ending that [Johns] hopes pays off everything they have ever done and ever created with GL."
The writer wrote a lengthy post over at the DC blog, The Source, with mention that down the line he and Mahnke will be doing another project.
"I’m off to focus my energy on the JUSTICE LEAGUE universe as we head into what I hope is an exciting plan – Simon Baz and B’dg will be along for the ride in JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA – and you’ll no doubt see Hal Jordan and some of the other Lanterns in the world of the Justice League before too long. And Sinestro…? You’ll have to read GREEN LANTERN #20 for that…"
