First Star Wars Stand Alone Rumored To Be Yoda Movie; Jabba Possible
With a director officially attached to Star Wars Episode VII - namely J.J. Abrams - it looks as if the rumor mills are beginning to churn once again.
We get our first rumor following Abram's appointment, and it has to do with the Star Wars spinoff or stand alone movies that were previously mentioned.
AICN has it that the first Star Wars stand alone movie - not Star Wars Episode VII, VIII or IX - will center around Yoda.
And they also say that they heard something about a Jabba The Hut story that George Lucas mentioned to some of his friends, for perhaps, another movie down the line.
This news is interesting as it seems to suggest that Disney could be doing character specific movies for the spinoffs/stand alone movies, while the main movies would progress the Star Wars mythos. AICN also mentions a Joe Johnston Boba Fett movie.
No other details are known, but we are left to wonder, if indeed the rumor is true, whether or not the new Yoda movie would focus on his early days of being a Jedi or some other time altogether. At his death in Return of the Jedi, Yoda was 900 years old, so really Disney has a lot to choose from.
Character specific movies actually sound like a decent way to go as they wouldn't be dependent on the new Star Wars movies, and be subjected to certain guidelines, but would have more of a freedom and tied to the originals as well.
Star Wars Episode VII has a 2015 release date.
