First Look At John Romita Sr. Superman #34 Variant Cover

Body

DC Comics released a first look at the variant cover for Superman #34 by the legendary John Romita Sr.

This marks the first time that John Romita Sr. has drawn Superman on a cover, and also the first time the artist has worked for DC in over 50 years.

“I worked there in prehistoric times for about eight years,” he jokingly told THR. “It was between 1958 and ’65. In those eight years, I did a lot of romance comics.

"I’ve done a few sketches when we used to do crossovers and a couple of paperback covers that had Superman on them," Romita Sr. continued. "I’ve done Superman on sketches for kids on conventions. DC called me and asked me if I would be interested in doing a variant cover, and I told them as long as it wasn’t a crowd scene, I’d try it.”

Superman #34 hits August 27th from Geoff Johns and John Romita Jr. that sees the introduction of a new villain, The Machinist.
