First Look At Joel Kinnaman As New Robocop (2013)

Body

With filming having started today in Toronto on the new Robocop movie we get our first look at Joel Kinnaman as the human cyborg policeman.

It was previously said the new look of Robocop would be different than the Peter Weller classic, which obviously appears to be the case.

We see that the new suit resembles less of a machine and more of a man with body armor, but we do see the visor over the face which is similar to the original version.

It's also been said that Robocop also "transforms," so we can assume there will be CGI involved which might make the finished look even more different. In addition, with the new suit looking less clunky, the new Joel Kinnaman Robocop suit might feature things like jumps and rolls — more maneuverability.

The new look also represents a vast different take than the original in that Peter Weller's Robocop was more intimating - just by the look - compared to the Joel Kinnaman version.

It might even be worth questioning why they went with "Robocop" if the movie is going to be so different than the original.

Regardless, director José Padilha has put together a good cast, so maybe he can bring Robocop to the 21st century successfully.

Robocop opens August 9, 2013, directed by Jose Padilha, starring Joel Kinnaman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, and Gary Oldman.
