Evil Dead 2013 Gets R Rating; First Had NC-17

Body

5294 The new Evil Dead movie looks to be living up to the movie poster description of "the most terrifying film you will ever experience" as the MPAA first awarded the film an NC-17 Rating.

Director Fede Alvarez let the news be known as he tweeted the following announcing that for theaters it will be R-Rated:

Was proud of scoring a NC17 when submitted! But we had to cut stuff out to get an R and get the film into theaters

Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell are back on the movie as producers of the 80s classic remake; hopefully, the director's cut will feature all the original footage and the NC-17 rating.

Head on over here for an Evil Dead Red-Band (mature) trailer and the Green-Band version.

The new Evil Dead comes out April 12, 2013 and stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Jessica Lucas, Lou Taylor Pucci, and Elizabeth Blackmore.

Synopsis:

In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.
