Joss Whedon's new The Avengers spinoff television series, S.H.I.E.L.D., has landed its second recruit with Ming-Na.

Ming-Na, known for her role on NBC's ER, will play a leading role in the new series from Marvel TV, Agent Melinda May.

Agent May is described as a weapons expert, an ace pilot and a soldier who has gone beyond the call of duty, according to Deadline.

Ming-Na joins Clark Gregg, set to reprise as Agent Phil Coulson, on the new ABC show that Joss Whedon is both writing and directing.

Ming-Na is no stranger to the action-adventure genre having had roles in Stargate as well as SyFy's Eureka following her time on ER.
