Disney Shutting Down Marvel: Avengers Alliance Games

It's learned Disney is shutting down the Marvel: Avengers Alliance Facebook and mobile app games.

Both Marvel: Avengers Alliance and its sequel will shut down at the end of the month on September 30th.

Via Disney:

Today we are announcing the shutdown of Marvel: Avengers Alliance and Marvel: Avengers Alliance 2 on all platforms, including the App Store, Google Play, Amazon Appstore, Windows Phone Store, and Facebook. Beginning today, we are no longer accepting new purchases or downloads, but the games will be available to play until September 30, 2016.

Marvel: Avengers Alliance will no longer be available on Facebook or as a mobile application. Retiring a title with such a dedicated and amazing fanbase was a decision not made lightly but we want to thank you for your engagement, passion and commitment to the game.

The reason given for closing the game:

At this time, we are shifting our development focus towards other online and mobile play experiences, and a growing selection of Disney Mobile apps. We deeply appreciate your enthusiasm and loyal support for Marvel: Avengers Alliance and sincerely hope you will continue to enjoy the large variety of online and mobile play experiences Disney offers, and will bring you soon!

Marvel Avengers Alliance first launched as a Facebook game back in 2012 and eventually made the jump to mobile devices.

The news of Disney closing Marvel: Avengers Alliance also follows Disney having shut down Disney Infinity.
