Disney Remaking Black Hole (1979) With Original Prometheus Screenwriter Jon Spaihts & Joseph Kosinksi

Body

We can add another Hollywood movie to the long list of remakes and this time it is with the 1979 science-fiction movie, The Black Hole.

THR reports that Disney is bringing original (keyword: original) Prometheus screenwriter, Jon Spaihts, on baord to do rewrites on the Travis Beacham (Pacific Rim) script from a few years ago.

It's also reported that Tron and Oblivion director Joseph Kosinksi will helm the new The Black Hole film.

The remake is being described as philosophical and somewhat dark in tone.

Back in 1979, The Black Hole was Disney's most expensive film ever made for them and starred Maximilian Schell, Anthony Perkins, Robert Forster, Joseph Bottoms, Yvette Mimieux, Ernest Borgnine, Roddy McDowall and Slim Pickens.

The plot, set in the future, centers around a group of space explorers that discover a long-lost ship orbiting a Black Hole with its inhabitants not being what they seem, among of which consists a bizarre scientist with his crew of robots.
