Disney picks ups sci-fi time travel film "The Runner"

Disney has picked up the rights to the sci-fi time travel film, The Runner, according to Deadline.

This will see The Runner also adapted for television, video games, hand held and mobile device.

The Runner will also become a graphic novel ie a comic book - most likely developed by Marvel Comics, which Disney owns, and previously published the Tron related comics.

The Runner is from writer Dave Andron (Knight Rider, Justified) with Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace) said to be the potential director.

Here's is the premise via Deadline:

The premise: In the year 2027, Earth's surface has been rendered uninhabitable due to a devastating attack. A group of survivors living in the Rocky Mountains have discovered a way to send a man back in time. While the volunteer departs under the guise of trying to stop the devastating attack, he has an ulterior motive: to save the love of his life.
