Deadpool Movie Gets 2016 Release Date

Fox Studios has given the Deadpool movie a February 12, 2016 release date.

The new comes almost two months after the Deadpool test footage leaked online.

Tim Miller will direct Deadpool, with Ryan Reynolds expected to star as the Merc With The Mouth.

A Deadpool movie was seemingly in limbo, but following the release of the test footage as well as support by Tim Miller, writer Rhett Reese, creator Rob Liefeld and social media support by the fans, Fox is moving forward.

At the moment, no plot details are known, and it's currently not known what rating the Deadpool movie will be. The character is considered "r-rated" due to vulgarity and graphic violence, but as Liefeld recently noted, the test footage could easily pass for PG-13 and was well received.

Following the test footage, behind-the-scenes images featuring Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool also hit the net.

As THR notes, Ryan Reynolds recently told the Niagara Falls Review that fan support on social networks was paramount in getting the Deadpool movie green lit.

"The movie has been in a state of limbo for a while. There was such an overpowering reaction to the footage, you sort of feel like, 'Oh, so we weren't crazy for our reasons for loving this character, for loving this role,'" Reynolds said. "It's interesting to see the power of the Internet. It's awe-inspiring, actually. And it's neat that Twitter and Facebook and Instagram can move mountains when used in the right way."

Liefeld was also pretty happy about the Deadpool news on Twitter, and you can watch the test footage below.
