DC Comics Delays Release of Batman Incorporated #3 Because Of The Dark Knight Rises Shootings
Tomorrow you may not find Batman Incorporated #3 for sale at your local comic shop because DC Comics has delayed the release of the issue as a result of the Aurora, Colorado shootings that left 12 dead with 38 injured.
The issue is said to contain sensitive content and will be released in one month, on August 22nd.
However, my understanding is that the issue has already shipped, as DC Comic sent out an e-mail to retailers which read in part, "Out of respect for the victims and families in Aurora, Colorado DC Entertainment has made the decision to postpone the release of BATMAN INCORPORATED #3 for one month because the comic contains content that may be perceived as insensitive in light of recent events. We request that retailers do not make this issue available as previously solicited."
While at this time the contents of Batman Incorporated #3 are unknown, artist Chris Burnham took to Twitter to state, "There’s a specific scene that made DC & the whole Bat-team say ”˜Yikes.’ Too close for comfort.”
In related news, Batman Incorporated writer Grant Morrison stated he will be leaving the series with issue #12.
