Batman Beyond Joins The New 52; New Weekly Series "The New 52: Futures End" Announced

Body

DC Comics adds its second weekly series with The New 52: Futures End which kicks off this coming May as part of FCBD.

Jeff Lemire, Keith Giffen, Brian Azzarello and Dan Jurgens will be writing the New 52 five years into the future with the FCBD zero issue followed by the first issue later in May.

"Really, what we're trying to do with this book is to explore the nature of what a hero is and we're doing that, obviously by playing with the future of the New 52 timeline," Lemire told the AP. "Past present and future all colliding in this story line."

Characters featured include Frankenstein, Firestorm, and joining the New 52 continuity - Batman Beyond.

"That's definitely one of our mandates, too," stated Lemire. "To create new characters and new concepts that will hopefully have a life beyond the series."

Ethan Van Sciver will be drawing the FCBD zero issue, with Jesus Merino, Aaron Lopresti, Jurgens and more artists to be announced on the regular series.

The New 52: Futures End joins Scott Snyder's Batman Eternal as part of DC's weekly line-up.
