Dave Bautista Cast As Drax In Guardians of the Galaxy Movie

We get our second member of the James Gunn directed Guardians of the Galaxy movie cast with WWE superstar Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer.

Bautista joins Chris Pratt who was recently named to be playing the film's lead, Peter Quill, Star-Lord.

THR reports that Bautista was in contention for the role in addition to Isaiah Mustafa, Patrick Wade and Jason Momoa.

Dave Bautista was featured in the Man with the Iron Fists and stars opposite Vin Diesel in the upcoming Riddick movie.

Drax The Destroyer, in the comic books, first appeared in Iron Man #55 in 1973 in addition to the first appearance of The Avengers post-credit scene foe, Thanos.

Originally Drax was a human named Arthur Douglas whom Thanos had killed but was resurrected by the Eternal, Kronos, to do battle against Thanos. Drax was originally also more like the Incredible Hulk, with low intelligence and green skin to boot, but in 2005 was remade into more of a "God of War" Kratos-like figure. From there he was featured in the Marvel Cosmic resurgence with Annihilation and became a member of Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning's Guardians of the Galaxy.

Drax's only goal in his "after-Life" is to rid the universe of Thanos.
