The Dark Knight Rises (2012): IMAX Ticket Servers Crash In Australia; Being Compared To Harry Potter Craze

Body

2013 Seems Australian fans are going a little nutso over The Dark Knight Rises.

So much so that their IMAX ticket servers — crashed!

With over an hour of footage shot in IMAX by director Christopher Nolan, apparently just about all the Batman fans in Australia want to see the movie only in IMAX.

After only a few minutes of IMAX pre-sale tickets becoming available, servers in Melbourne and Sydney, Australia crashed, as reported by News-De-Stars.com.

And The Dark Knight Rises Australian craze is even being compared to the Harry Potter fandom, noted Mark Bretherton, CEO of Worlds Biggest Screens Pty Ltd., the operator of the IMAX screens in Australia, and the theaters were forced to add more IMAX movie screenings at 3:30 am, but clearly not enough.

"We only have one room and there are only 24 hours in a day," Bretherton said.

I know my local IMAX tickets for the midnight showing for The Dark Knight Rises are all sold out, and there is also a 3:30 am showing as well.

Hey, I don't remember hearing about tickets sales for The Avengers crashing anything?!

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th, 2012 and is directed by Christopher Nolan starring Christian Bale as Batman, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, Michael Cain as Alfred, Juno Temple and Josh Pence as a young Ra's al Ghul.
