CW's "Amazon" Wonder Woman Is Diana; Iris Just A Codename

Body

4361 Late last night the news hit that Warner Bros. had hired a casting director for a character named Iris, the new teenage Wonder Woman, in CW's new Amazon television show.

Of course it wasn't Diana and fans flipped.

However, that's not exactly the case as it turns out Iris was just a code name used to "try and avoid speculation," tweeted Geoff Johns, DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer.

In addition, Amazon producer Allan Heinberg confirmed on Twitter as well with, "Merciful Minerva! So much for using code names to avoid internet speculation."

A lengthy breakdown description for "Iris" surfaced as well, which read in part:

"She comes from a remote, secluded country and until now has spent most of her life as a soldier and a leader on the battlefield."

Warner Bros. and the CW hope to have Amazon follow in the footsteps of their other successful DC Comics property, Arrow.

Plans for a Booster Gold series on SyFY are in development as well.
