Cosmopolis' David Cronenberg F-Bombs The Dark Knight Rises Fans And Rips On Comic Book Movies

So how many of the millions of fans of The Dark Knight Rises will be going to see Cosmopolis?

Or fans of Batman or superhero films in general?

Well, maybe director David Cronenberg doesn't want you to see his movie — yeah, the one that stars Twilight's Robert Pattinson.

So what's all the fuss about?

Well, Cronenberg, was asked by NextMovie his thoughts on super hero movies, and the director ripped them apart, including Christopher Nolan.

Mind you Cronenberg went off and said Nolan shoots in 3D...so, open mouth, insert foot?

(Nolan doesn't shoot in 3D)

Here's the highlights (bold is Cronenberg), head on over to NextMovie for the full interview:

On superhero movies:

I don't think they are making them an elevated art form.

On Batman:

I think it's still Batman running around in a stupid cape.

On The Dark Knight Trilogy compared to Memento:

I don't think his Batman movies are half as interesting though they're 20 million times the expense.

On Nolan's filming technique:

What he is doing is some very interesting technical stuff, which, you know, he's shooting IMAX and in 3-D. That's really tricky and difficult to do. I read about it in "American Cinematography Magazine," and technically, that's all very interesting.

On Batman Begins, The Dark KnightThe Dark Knight Rises:

The movie, to me, they're mostly boring.

On Nolan:

And obviously Nolan has been very successful. He's got a lot of power, relatively speaking. But he doesn't really have power.

On superhero movies:

But a superhero movie, by definition, you know, it's comic book. It's for kids. It's adolescent in its core.

On fans of The Dark Knight Rises:

I think people who are saying, you know, "Dark Knight Rises" is, you know, supreme cinema art," I don't think they know what the f**k they're talking about.
