Chris Pine Will Be Disappointed If J.J. Abrams Doesn't Direct Star Trek 3

Body

5388 With the recent announcement that Disney has chosen Star Trek Into Darkness director J.J. Abrams to direct Star Wars Episode VII the fate of the Star Trek franchise is in question.

Shortly after the Star Wars announcement it came out that J.J. Abrams will be on Star Trek 3 as a producer, though nothing has been confirmed regarding a director.

Now, Captain Kirk Chris Pine, offers his thoughts on J.J. Abrams being chosen for Star Wars as well as Star Trek 3 as he tells the USA Today that he still hopes for Abrams return.

"The only way I'll be disappointed is if he doesn't direct our third movie," Pine said. "I think if that turns out to be the case we'll have to kidnap him and hold him hostage until he agrees to do a third."

The USA Today notes all kidding aside, as Chris Pine thinks Abrams will do more than a fine job.

"From my standpoint, J.J. is a science-fiction genius. To have him over in the Star Wars camp is going to be a great thing. I'm sure it's going to be a great film," Pine said.

Star Wars Episode VII has a 2015 release date with a script written by Michael Arndt.

Chris Pine can be seen in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness May 17th and his newest film, Jack Ryan, on December 25th.
