Captain America 2 Passes $500 Million Worldwide

Captain America 2 has now passed $500 million worldwide in total box office sales.

As it stands, Captain America 2 has netted about $170.6 million in the U.S. with another $335.2 million internationally bringing its total to about $505 million.

The 2011 flick, Captain America: The First Avenger, saw a total of about $177 million domestically with about a $194 million international gross for a total of about $370.5 million.

It's speculated that for the third weekend in a row, Captain America 2 could be the #1 movie at the box office in the U.S., and the movie already holds the best April opening ever.

Reviews and word-of-mouth have been overwhelmingly positive as well as Captain America 2 holds an 89% positive rating amongst critics at Rotten Tomatoes with a 95% approval from audiences.

Marvel has already announced that Captain America 3 will be released on May 6, 2016 which will see Anthony and Joe Russo returning to direct along with Chris Evans reprising as Steve Rogers aka Captain America.
