Last week we learned that Matthew Vaughn had stepped down as director of the X-Men: First Class sequel, X-Men: Days of Future Past, with it said that possibly Bryan Singer was up for the job.

Now, Deadline reports that Fox Studios has closed the deal with Singer.

Vaughn doesn't look to be totally out of the picture as it's said that Vaughn will be on as producer, with that deal still waiting to go through.

With X-Men: Days of Future Past, Bryan Singer returns to directing the franchise that he helped establish. Singer directed the first two X-Men movies, which are felt by many to be the best of that bunch.

X-Men: Days of Future Past has a July 18, 2014 release with Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence set to return.
