Rumors continue to mount regarding Benedict Cumberbatch and Star Wars: Episode VII as the latest has the actor dropping out of Crimson Peak to reunite with J.J. Abrams.

Tom Hiddleston was recently announced to be replacing Benedict Cumberbatch on Guillermo Del Toro's Crimson Peak with many online speculating that the rumors of Benedict Cumberbatch playing a Sith Lord in Star Wars: Episode VII are true; however, the actor states that's not the case.

Speaking with MTV at the Toronto Film Festival, Cumberbatch says he just doesn't know.

"I don't know. I genuinely don't know. People know I would like to be - including the boss most importantly, but the fact is this: It's all conjecture after me passing on another film," he said. "Immediately people went 'he's passed it up for Star Wars.'" Benedict Cumberbatch continued, "I didn't even know they were filming at the same time. No idea. Of course I would like to do it, but no formal offers have been made at all as far as I'm aware."

"Star Wars: Episode VII" has a 2015 release directed by J.J. Abrams.
