Benedict Cumberbatch Reps Deny Star Wars: Episode VII Casting

Yesterday saw a pair of rumors hit surrounding Benedict Cumberbatch and Star Wars: Episode VII.

The first stated that Disney and LucasFilm were planning on announcing that Benedict Cumberbatch has been cast in Star Wars.

The second then said Cumberbatch would be a Sith Lord and featured throughout the new Star Wars Trilogy.

Now, Cumberbatch's reps have said he is not cast, but we see they didn't exactly deny his involvement either.

"There is no truth to the rumour Benedict has been cast in Star Wars,” NY Daily News reports. “I think the rumours are circling because JJ and Benedict have just recently had a wonderful time working together on Star Trek .”

As we previously mentioned, as this is a J.J. Abrams project, everyone is going to have to play the waiting game, though Benedict Cumberbatch would also make a pretty darn cool Jedi Knight.

"Star Wars: Episode VII" has a 2015 release directed by J.J. Abrams.
