Bendis Rocket Raccoon Troubles; Writing "Over The Hedge" Cartoon Version
Plus one for Brian Michael Bendis?
During a comic book retailer conference call, Bendis was asked for specifics regarding the upcoming James Gunn directed Guardian of the Galaxy movie.
Bendis is part of Marvel's movie consultant squad as well as the new writer on the upcoming comic book.
Of course, he couldn't mention anything from the movie, but did offer that Jason Statham would make a good Rocket Raccoon, which many fans have been stating for quite a while.
Bendis went on to describe how he was having trouble writing Rocket Raccoon (surprise!) for the new Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, and the reason was because he kept writing Rocket as if he was the animated Bruce Willis raccoon from Over The Hedge.
"I realised I was writing the wrong Raccoon," Bendis said, reports Bleeding Cool.
And we are guessing he never read DnA's Guardians of the Galaxy, played the Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 video game, or watched the DnA penned episode of Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes either.
Still, Bendis goes on to comment about the Adam Sandler rumor (gets that part wrong), but mentions Jason Statham would make a good Rocket Raccoon.
"Adam Sandler would be good, but Jason Statham would be good also," it's reported he said.
So that's plus one and minus two.
One step forward two steps back.
Sounds about right.
Bendis also wouldn't comment on Iron Man being in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, but offers why and how it could work.
"Tony standing back and wondering what the Earth needs from him… what he can do for the Earth, for the galaxy… and then taking that back into his next Avengers adventure is a good story worth telling with Tony Stark."
The Guardians of the Galaxy movie has an August 1, 2014 release date and is directed by James Gunn.
