Batman Gets A 75th Anniversary Stamp For Comic-Con

This July will see Batman get his own 75 anniversary stamp which will be issued at the San Diego Comic-Con.

May sees the 75th anniversary of Detective Comics #1 which was published in 1939 by by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger.

Linns.com states this marks only the second time that Batman has appeared as a U.S. stamp, with the first time in 2006 (pictured right).

Regarding the look of the stamp, the report states Warner Bros. will provide the art, and that it might not feature the conventional rectangular look, but could be a "(non-rectangular) stamp souvenir sheet, also a prestige booklet."

A U.S Postal Service briefing sheet for the Batman stamp also reads that it would hope to "encourage stamp collecting for all ages, while creating a pane of stamps that is timely... relevant, contemporary and fun," as well as stating the Batman stamp "would be a great 2014 Blockbuster."

It's further stated the Batman stamp promotion is expected to continue into 2015.
