Batman Begins To Be Converted To IMAX For The Dark Knight Rises Trilogy Marathon
If you thought The Dark Knight Trilogy marathon leading up to the midnight premiere of The Dark Knight Rises was for the little ol' theaters — guess again!
IMAX will also have all three movies running back to back, and we learn Christopher Nolan's first movie - Batman Begins - will be converted to IMAX for the event.
The Dark Knight featured a small amount of IMAX footage, with The Dark Knight Rises featuring over an hour. And now Batman Begins will join them, according to Variety.
"As anticipation for 'The Dark Knight Rises' has risen, our guests have made their voices heard about the kind of experience they expect for this installment of what's become a legendary franchise," said AMC programming prexy Robert Lenihan to Variety. "We have been working to ensure we could provide our guests an event that was truly, completely in Imax."
We learn that the Trilogy will be running in 296 AMC locations, of which 76 will be IMAX.
Tickets for the IMAX Dark Knight Trilogy marathon run for $40 compared to the $25 for regular screenings, and the event begins July 19th at 6pm.
Movie goers will receive a collectible lanyard and commemorative poster, as well as a $5 voucher for AMC Stubs members to be used that day as well.
The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th, 2012 and is directed by Christopher Nolan starring Christian Bale as Batman, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, Michael Cain as Alfred, Juno Temple and Josh Pence as a young Ra's al Ghul.
