Batman: Arkham Knight Delayed To 2015; New Batmobile Trailer

Body

Batman: Arkham Knight was originally slated for an October 2014 release, but now it's learned the game will be delayed to 2015 for PC, XBox One and PS4.

A rep for Rocksteady offered the following explanation to GameSpot:

We just want to make this the best experience that we can, and that takes time. We feel that we have an absolutely awesome game in the works, and we want to make it as great as it possibly can be. We just need more time to do that. If we didn't give the team more time to do it, then we would be releasing something that we weren't happy with. We want to make sure we're absolutely nailing it 100 percent.

The Batmobile is one thing we just couldn't do on previous gen. It's not just a case of having a car, it's a case of building a city where the car feels at home. So if we were to try and bring the Batmobile into Arkham City, for example, the streets aren't conducive to that driving experience. You have to create a much bigger environment to house the vehicle.

Gotham City is five times larger than the game world of Arkham City. And by virtue of having a bigger city, you need more memory and more horsepower to just make that happen.

A new Batmobile trailer has also been released:

Batman: Arkham Knight is based on DC Comics’ core Batman license and will be available exclusively for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, and Windows PC.

In the explosive finale to the Arkham series, Batman faces the ultimate threat against the city he is sworn to protect. The Scarecrow returns to unite an impressive roster of super villains, including Penguin, Two-Face and Harley Quinn, to destroy The Dark Knight forever. Batman: Arkham Knight introduces Rocksteady's uniquely designed version of the Batmobile, which is drivable for the first time in the franchise. The addition of this legendary vehicle, combined with the acclaimed gameplay of the Batman Arkham series, offers gamers the ultimate and complete Batman experience as they tear through the streets and soar across the skyline of the entirety of Gotham City.
