The Avengers, Game Of Thrones, Saga Win At 2013 Hugo Awards
Last night the 2013 Hugo Awards were held at the LoneStarCon 3 in San Antonio, Texas, which awards the best of science-fiction and fantasy from the previous year, with The Avengers, Game of Thrones, and the Saga comic book coming out on top.
The Avengers took the top spot in the category "Best Dramatic Presentation - Long Form," with Game of Thrones "Black Water" (episode 9 season 2) awarded best in "Best Dramatic Presentation - Short Form."
Coming in second place after The Avengers is Peter Jackson's The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey followed by Looper, Joss Whedon's The Cabin In The Woods, and Hunger Games.
Three episodes of Doctor Who came up short trailing Game of Thrones, with Fringe trailing behind as well.
"The Best Graphic Story" category saw Brian K. Vaughan's Image Comics comic book, Saga, take #1 followed by Schlock Mercenary - The Comic Space Opera, Locke & Key Volume 5: Clockworks, Saucer Country, Volume 1: Run, and Grandville Bette Noire.
The Hugo Awards first began in 1953 named after Hugo Gernsback, the founder of the science fiction magazine Amazing Stories. Previously known as the Science Fiction Achievement Awards, the title was officially changed in 1992, and is overseen by the World Science Fiction Society.
