We just went over both Annihilus possibly appearing in The Avengers, as well as Nova and the Guardians of the Galaxy.

While Loki's character bio up at the official the site reveals our Assemblers will need some assistance, Thor's own, reveals something cosmic this way comes!

(bold my own)

An arrogant prince from the distant land of Asgard, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) was banished to Earth after his irresponsible behavior threatened his homeland. While in exile on Earth, Thor learned humility and helped to save his new friends from a destructive threat sent by his brother Loki. In the process, Thor redeemed himself in the eyes of his father, Odin, the King of Asgard. After being welcomed back to Asgard as a hero, Thor must now return to Earth once again to prevent a cosmic-level catastrophe. With Mjolnir in his hand, a legendary hammer with immense power, the mighty warrior soon finds himself drawn into an unlikely alliance with Nick Fury's secret initiative, The Avengers, lending his power to their cause against his wayward brother, Loki.

As we here at Cosmic Book News love to point out, The Avengers just aren't capable of taking on cosmic-level villains.

Sorry, but true.

While the Hulk and Thor can certainly handle their own, Cap and Iron Man are just too grounded, not to mention Nicky Fury, Hawkeye and Black Widow.

That's why The Avengers are going to need some help from the big guns! The cosmic heavy hitters of the Marvel U.

Just who? That be remains to be seen, True Believers!

The Avengers assembles May 4th, 2012 and is directed by Joss Whedon, starring Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.
