The Avengers (2012): No Spider-Man Cameo, But What About Peter Parker?!

563 There has been mention of late about a Spider-Man appearance in The Avengers movie, as Disney and Sony seemingly share the rights to the Amazing Spider-Man movie (Disney owns merchandising), in addition it was rumored to be confirmed.

Yesterday The Avengers Twitter Live Chat was held with director Joss Whedon, Tom Hiddleston (Loki) and Clark Gregg (Agent Coulson). A fan asked Joss Whedon about everyone's favorite Wall Crawler making an appearance, with Whedon offering up the following;

There is no Spider-Man cameo. But the Avengers do turn off the dark.

Is it worth a mention that Whedon didn't state that Peter Parker will not be making a cameo?! Suppose it wouldn't make sense to debut Spidey in his new costume that wasn't in his new movie. Maybe Pete/Andrew Garfield will show up to snap a pic.

Or not.

The Amazing Spider-Man swings into theaters July 3rd, 2012 in 3-D and is directed by Marc Webb starring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard, Irrfan Khan as Nels Van Adder, Martin Sheen as Ben Parker, Denis Leary as Captain George Stacy, Sally Field as May Parker and C.
