Attack The Block & Ant-Man's Joe Cornish Eyed For Star Trek 3

With J.J. Abrams moving on to Star Wars, Star Trek 3 will be in need of a new captain to steer the franchise to places no man has gone before and at the helm might be Joe Cornish, known for the popular British indie sci-fi movie Attack The Block as well as having written the Marvel Studios Ant-Man movie with Edgar Wright.

Deadline reports that Paramount has Joe Cornish on their radar for Star Trek 3. Cornish also wrote Spielberg's Adventures of Tintin. It's said things will need to get moving pretty fast as Paramount is eyeing a Summer 2014 release for Star Trek 3.

Back at the 2011 NYCC I spoke to Joe Cornish about Attack The Block. If you haven't seen it, it's a pretty good movie about an alien invasion taking place in British housing projects. You can read the interview with Joe Cornish here.
