Amazing Spider-Man (2012): Rhys Ifans Talks Unrelatable Superman and Batman; Lizard, Gwen Stacy

picLast we heard from Rhys Ifans, the actor gave us a demonstration of the Lizard voice for The Amazing Spider-Man movie.

Now, again speaking with MTV News, Ifans offers up some thoughts on a couple iconic DC Comics characters, comic book villains, Gwen Stacy and more.

Ifans begins with comments on how unrelatable both Superman and Batman are, in his opinion (and worth a mention Spider-Man's direct competition).

"I just love the whole Spider-Man thing because Superman is so kind of god-like and comes from another planet. Batman is this inaccessible unapproachable millionaire," Ifans explained." And Peter Parker is this school boy who is bullied. I think that's the kind of enduring appeal to that story. We can all relate to his bullying and the flux that puberty induces in a young boy becoming a young man."

Switching to his character, The Lizard, Ifans notes how Kurt Connors is unlike the typical comic book villain, in that he is essentially good, but turns bad.

"The majority of comic book villains are pure evil, but Curt Connors is an exception," he told MTV News. "Curt Connors is a good man who initially wants to save the world but he gets hungry and greedy and reckless and he pays the price for that."

We even get a quick detail on the character of Gwen Stacy, played by Emma Stone.

"Emma works with me. Emma's character Gwen Stacey is a student who works at my laboratory," Ifans said.
