Body

The Hypernaturals #6 speeds up on the action and heats up on the characterization as Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning continue to build a world for this new cosmic super-group.

I especially like this time around the richness of the characters and their relationships to each other. The young newbies Halfshell and Shoal work well with the retired but returned vets as they face the twin dangers of Sublime and Chernovski … and perhaps a break in their own ranks?

I am really fascinated about how these things are affecting the AI that has reached singularity and is ruling mankind and the universe. The Chernovski situation alone is cause for alarm, as is the fact that apparently the universe’s greatest villain winds up teaming up with the Hypernaturals in order to save what day there may be left.

DnA continue to be a bit heavy on the techno-babble, but that is fine with me. I am one who always appreciated narrative blocks and editorial note boxes, so bring on the info!

I am also fascinated by the concept of the Clone Sequence which all clones share and Clone 21 herself. I am pleased DnA are concentrating on both.

Building a universe from scratch isn’t easy, as witness to both DC and Marvel (especially DC) constantly revamping, retconning or relaunching same. Sheesh, and DC owns Superman and Batman!

Hypernaturals #6 is a great issue for new fans to jump on as well, as we get to know characters, motivations and explore the dangers of the Quantinuum!
