Body

Check out 30 promotional images from the 1989 Batman film of Jack Nicholson as The Joker, and Michael Keaton as the Caped Crusader.

Batman was directed by Tim Burton with a budget of around $50 million. It was a box office smash bringing in over $400 million and also was the first movie to make $100 million in its opening first ten days. Batman also broke the opening weekend record for box office gross with $46 million, surpassing Ghostbusters 2.

Batman was also the highest grossing DC Comics movie until Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight, and also beat Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade for North American sales.

Costume designer Bob Ringwood created the costumes with Burton coming up with the idea for an all black suit which Batman creator Bob Kane signed off on.
